RLR Special – Interview With The Protomen

Before podcasts, before the desire to do shit on the Internet, I used to attend concerts all the damn time. I’m talking 3 sometimes 4 a week during the summer and fall. You’d be surprised with who exactly comes to tour this hallowed state of ours here in Utah. Quit laughing, Utah is cool.

One such group that had it’s first taste of the Beehive State recently is one of my favorite groups of all time…and I’m not saying that because I got to meet them and interview them for this podcast. I’m saying that because only the genius minds of The Protomen could make an amazing 2 album rock opera based on the concepts from Mega Man…only dystopian and more awesomer, yes awesomer.

So join Ryan Thomason (first time appearing on RLR as an actual contributor) and myself as we sit down, literally, with Murphy and Commander of The Protomen outside of the venue at Kilby Court. A few other members of the group joined us in the discussion, but you’ll have to listen to find out who.

    Topics we discussed

  • Mexican Food
  • The Great Salt Lake
  • Utah Venues
  • Don’t Swim in the Salt Lake
  • Expendables 2
  • Subway Sandwiches
  • GI Joe and why Duke should have stayed dead
  • Upcoming movies
  • Life on the road
  • PAX
  • Cinnamon Challenge

This isn’t your typical interview with a band where we discuss the normal bullcrap you already know and DON’T want to hear any more of, this is Red Light Roundtable shooting the shit with honest to goodness one of the most humble and approachable bands I’ve ever met.

This won’t be the last time that we interview people for the show which will be beginning it’s third season, but it’s at least something to whet your appetite for off-topic banter. Enjoy!
