Never one to play by the rules, Radiohead have finally lifted the lid on their new album and it’s out a lot sooner than you’d think.Yes, you read that right, it’s out this Saturday. It’s crazy how the band has managed to keep that a secret. The new album is called The King of Limbs. It will be available in two forms, a “newspaper” album and as a download.
Firstly, the downloadable version. It will be available as either 320kbps MP3 or uncompressed WAV and the prices are £6 and £9 respectively. Also one person who purchases from the website will receive a signed 2 track 12″ Vinyl.
The newspaper album on the other hand packs in a lot of extra content, but won’t be shipped until May 9th. However, all buyers of this edition will get the digital edition free on Saturday. Again, one person will receive the signed Vinyl. It will also comprise of:
- Two clear 10″ vinyl records in a purpose-built record sleeve.
- A compact disc.
- Many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork and a full-colour piece of oxo-degradeable plastic to hold it all together.
The prices are £30 and £33 respectively for 320kbps MP3 or uncompressed WAV tracks.
I don’t know whether it was intentional to release this news on Valentine’s Day, but if so it’s a loving present from Radiohead. I love how we have literally no idea about what this record is going to sound like or the track listing etc. All we know is that it’s out on Saturday and there’s two ways we can buy it. I can’t wait.
