Prometheus update #29: Guy Pearce confirmed

Look’s like Guy Pearce has signed on to plan one of the leading rolls in the Ridley Scott, ‘not an Alien’ Alien movie.

Guy Pearce, whom you may remember as King Edward VIII in The King’s Speech, or Leonard in Momento, or even Adam in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert looks to have signed on for a major part in the new Ridley Scott Prometheus film.

From AICN,

Look at the cast list here. Guy Pearce, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green… and Charlize Theron… okay, Charlize kinda kills my point, but what I was going to say is that Scott is populating this universe very much like he did the original Alien, with a team of strong character actors, none of them super A-list stars.

AICN makes an interesting point, in that none of the actors who were in the original Alien movie were really tent-pole actors. But many of them went on to have significant career. Probably the closest was Sir Ian Holm, who played Ash the Android in the original film. But Prometheus looks like it is starting off with some recognizable, but minor actors.

Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce, Michael Fassbender (Inglorious Basterds), are probably the only 3 really recognizable names to the list so far. However, my intuition tells me that one mega star will be added to the list. And while I don’t want to go on record saying who I think it is, I can surely hope for Bruce Willis. Yippee Ki-Yay mother fu**er.
