PAX 2011: Rock of Ages

From the minds of Ace Team, the nice people who brought you Zeno Clash, comes another game with a distinctive artstyle and an interesting premise. Rock of Ages is, at its core, a tower defense game. Two doors sit closed on either side of a gauntlet. You play against another player, either locally or over Xbox Live, and each of you set up defenses in front of your door; then each player attempts to roll their rock into the other’s door as quickly as possible. Doing so will earn you extra money with which to buy more defenses or to upgrade your rock. It’s very fast paced, and promises to be a lot of fun. I had a bit of a hard time with the camera controls while rolling my rock, but otherwise really enjoyed my short time with the game.

I really look forward to seeing the game progress through different eras of art history and the way they will change how the game looks. This bad boy is available tomorrow on Xbox Live Arcade and will be soon followed by a Playstation Network release, so go pick it up.
