PAX 2010: Tron Evolution
PAX 2010 is in full swing, and one of the earliest games I got to check out was Disney Interactive’s Tron Evolution. Based on the upcoming movie, Tron Evolution is a mix of third person action-adventure and light cycle driving. The game takes place before the film, and is meant to be a prequel leading up to it. I got a chance to try out both sections of the game, and it was an entertaining experience. First off, the game looks gorgeous (I played the 360 version), and the game’s looks compliment the fast paced, light cycle sequences are very fastpaced and twitchy, which works well for the setting. I’ll admit that I had a little trouble controlling it, but I’m generally bad at racing games. The action-adventure portions were fast paced and generally enteratining as well. As you can see in the video above, the combat generallyh consists of jumping around and throwing discs at enemies, as well as some general platforming. Though I didn’t get to see any of it, the game will have multiplayer with persistent stats and a leveling system.
I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by Tron Evolution. The style, gameplay, and setting are nailed down, and it was a lot of fun to play. Tron Evolution comes out on December 7th, and I must say I’m looking forward to it.
