SEGA have officially confirmed that the Shinobi is returning with a new Shinobi game coming to Nintendo 3DS. The good news is that it’s a 2.5D platformer that follows Jiro Musashi, father of original Shinobi protagonist Joe Musashi. The bad news is that it is being developed by Griptonite Games, who have a long track record but whose games consist of portable versions of existing titles, with their biggest titles being the PSP title Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines and…Where The Wild Things Are. Graphically it doesn’t look that impressive either, cel shaded or not. Seems like they could get a lot better out of the 3DS. And lets not forget the last time Sega made a new “classic” style game of one of their existing franchises. The game might turn out to be good but we’re on the fence for now.
