New WRC game announced. I possibly came.
From a small article by Eurogamer, (literally one paragraph) comes the announcement of a new WRC game for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. If you don’t know, WRC stands for the FIA World Rally Championship, which as you might have guessed, is a yearly rally championship that takes place around the world. It’s tough and brutal, with plenty of crashes, tarmac, dirt and directions from co-drivers. There have been a few WRC games in the past, developed by Evolution Studios (Motorstorm) for the Playstation 2 and they were actually pretty good and a good competitor to the Colin McRae series at the time. Apparently the licence isn’t owned by them anymore though, despite WRC cars appearing in the upcoming Duke Nukem Forever Gran Turismo 5.
With the DiRT series heading off in more of a general off-road direction, now is just the right time for a new traditional rally game that I and 5 other people have been wanting for the past few years. The game is being developed by Black Bean Games, who have most recently worked on the MotoGP games. I’ve only played the demo for one MotoGP game and although it seemed good, I wouldn’t buy it, since I’m not a Superbike fan. However, I am a fan of Rally and WRC so I welcome the new game with open arms when it’s released next year. Given it’s small fandom though, it better be a cheaper price than the usual new title.
