New Manga Releases for the Week of January 19, 2016

This week sees new manga releases from Kodansha Comics, Seven Seas Entertainment, Vertical Comics, and VIZ Media.

Master Keaton Volume 5 by Hokusei Katsuhika and Takashi Nagasaki
VIZ Media – MSRP: $19.99 Get it for $16.18!

Called “half English” in Japan and “half Japanese” in England, Mr. Keaton is a failed college lecturer but a successful insurance investigator. He doesn’t seem to belong in any society, but with a sense of hope, he soldiers on as a maverick operative, traveling across the world and embarking on suspenseful adventures.

It’s day two of the Tokyo Lockdown with no end in sight. As Kazuya and his friends look for an exit, they rescue a singer named Haru from demons. She gives them a place to stay for the night, but no explanation as to why the demons are after her.

A Girl on the Shore by Inio Asano
Vertical Comics – MSRP: $18.95

A Girl on the Shore revolves around Koume Sato and Kosuke Isobe, two teenagers living in a sleepy Japanese seaside town. After getting used and dumped by her crush, the emotionally damaged Koume decides to start a relationship with Kosuke, without any emotions involved. However, they both soon discover that sex with no strings attached often leads to unexpected complications, not just for themselves but also the people around them.

Life, love, and education. College Freshman Tada Banri is looking forward to a new lease on life, starting with his ambitious journey and entry into a private law school in Tokyo. As luck would have it, during the opening ceremony for the freshman class, he happens across an unfortunate person from his past. Her name is Mitsuo Yanagisawa, a buxom-beauty who slaps Banri across the face with a bouquet of roses. Just who is she and what’s her beef with Banri?

My Neighbor Seki Volume 6 by Takuma Morishige

Seki’s complicated games manage to distract Rumi, even when he’s absent from school. Not only does Seki try to literally rewrite history, he performs surgery (on stuffed animals), and brings live creatures to cooking class. Meanwhile, Rumi focuses on saving the Earth itself.

Despite their tense pasts, Shoya begins to embrace the friend group that used to terrorize Shoko because she couldn’t hear. Now that summer vacation is in full swing, the crew can work together to film Tomohiro’s eccentric movie. Each fun-filled day lazily passes by, but doubt tugs at Shoya’s heavy heart and he is desperate to cling on to meaningful moments before they are gone.

Terra Formars Volume 10 by Yu Sasuga

Pursued by Division 4, Akari and Michelle encounter a Terraformar with bullet ant characteristics. Realizing this creature has stolen her deceased father’s strength, Michelle stands her ground alongside Akari. The two will be pushed beyond their limits in this fight, but even more formidable opponents are lining up to fight them, and their human enemies are still out there as well.
