Arcade Fire announced earlier today that they will be releasing a new single in stores in the next few weeks. Having finished the 12 inch Vinyl, it will be available in the near future and we assume in other formats. In other news, Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe has the exclusive on the new Muse single. British readers will be able to listen to it tonight at 7pm GMT.

The announcement of a new Arcade Fire single comes as no surprise, as they will be playing new material at the Reading and Leeds festivals later this year and the third album from the Canadian act is expected in the second half of this year. One can imagine that this new single will appear on it.

It also comes as no surprise that Zane Lowe got the exclusive on the new Muse single as that was the case when Uprising, the title track of Muse’s latest album The Resistance appeared on his Radio 1 show. As for the purpose of the single, it is part of the soundtrack for Twilight: Eclipse of all things. Muse songs have appeared in the previous two films so I guess Bella must really have a thing for Muse as well as Vampires and Werewolves (And Radiohead and Editors?). The band also have the second leg of their Resistance tour coming up so there is a chance that this new single might very well appear in the setlists.

EDIT: Here are the two new Arcade Fire singles, “The Suburbs/Month of May”

And the new Muse single, “Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever)”
