Nerd target-of-obsession, Eliza Dushku to (voice) star in animated Torchwood webisodes

Coming soon to a terminal near you, the voice of Eliza Dushku staring along side other Torchwood veterans, in a 10×3 webisode tie in to the Torchwood: Miracle Day series, coming in July.

Written by veteran writer, Jane Espenson (Star Trek DS9, Buffy, Dollhouse, and others) has written 10, 3-minute long web-only animated shorts Torchwood: Web of Lies, followups to the aforementioned Miracle Day series. Although the premise is unknown at this time, the animated shorts will likely act as a either a bridge between the last Torchwood mini-series, Children of Earth and the new series, premiering on Starz July 8th. Or as a gap filler, between the one episode and another. New episodes are scheduled to appear on the web after each televised episode is aired.

Dushku will voice at least one character, along with regular cast members John Borrowman (Captain Jack Harkness) and Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper). The comparison is being made between this animated short series, and the lead in for Spartacus. The animation quality for those webisodes was excellent, essentially animated comic strips, so I can only hope that the same quality and attention is paid to the Torchwood series.

But perhaps another way to look at this, is that there may be a Torchwood comic series in the works. If an artist has been commissioned to create these webisodes, it may not be that far fetched to imagine a full spin-out Torchwood comic, reviving the long dead one that started with the original airing of the television series.
