My life needs more Stephen Fry. Peter Jackson hobbit-ly to oblige

Can anyone really honestly complain about Stephen Fry? No, didn’t think so. Well, luckily enough Mr. Fry is going to get a small role in the upcoming Hobbit adaptation.

Ever since I was a little lad, watching Black Adder, I have adored Stephen Fry. His perfect juxtaposition and comfortable awkwardness added a perfect counterpoint to the cerebral humor that Rowan Atkin’s could bring to the show. It wasn’t until much later in life that I started watching ‘A Bit of Fry and Laurie’ and lets just say that my side-muscles have not been the same since.

Luckily for me, Fry has been given a small roll in the up coming Hobbit movie, marking his return to the silver screen. While he has had numerous voice acting parts, the last real role that he performed was that of Deitrich in V for Vendetta. According to the Hobbit facebook page,

We are thrilled to confirm that Stephen Fry will be playing The Master of Laketown. I’ve known Stephen for several years, and we’re developing a DAMBUSTERS movie together. In addition to his writing skills, he’s a terrific actor and will create a very memorable Master for us.

So not only do I get to look forward to The Hobbit, I get another Jackson/Fry effort in coming years. Good times to be had by all. And in the mean time, go on Netflix and check out A Bit of Fry and Laurie. Not only his Fry hilarious, but you get to watch some of the best comedy to ever come from Hugh Laurie.
