Mortal Kombat Pre-Order Exclusivity

I’ve just about given up on Mortal Kombat as a series. The new venture coming from Warner Bros. and Midway had better blow my socks off otherwise I might just have to make good of my threat of never supporting or talking about them ever again. It’s a good thing that I have heard from some trusted individuals associated with the site that it will.

There is however one thing that they’re doing with the 2.5D Mortal Kombat remake that I don’t exactly agree with.

When big blockbuster games hit the stores and many of them go for the pre-order trickery that I normally don’t really ever effect where I buy my games. I don’t normally care that you get a new piece of armor that has no bearing on the game whatsoever, it’s just usually a piece of armor or a different colored gun. I wish the same were true with Mortal Kombat. Instead, they’re making it so that certain ‘retro’ fatalities will be available for different characters depending on where you pre-ordered the game.

So let me get this straight, you’re now going to hold parts of the game hostage, you know…ones that have already been animated and haver certain sound effects to go along with it. That’s some bullshit right there.

I can’t be mad at Midway and Mortal Kombat for this, instead I’ll aim straight at Warner Bros. who are doing this as a ploy to drive up pre-orders…when we all know that after about a week or so of the game being out, will release a DLC package for us poor sad saps who picked it up after release day without a pre-order. Knowing gamers, we’ll eat it up to the tune of millions of dollars.

I just see behavior like this a reprehensible. The Bastards!

Anyways, the game launches sometime in April for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. I’ll leave it up to you if you want to be sheeple enough to pre order it. I think I’ll personally wait for a month later when the game’s price drops significantly.
