Mortal Kombat DLC Adds Retro Costumes and Fatalities

There’s a bit of DLC coming for the newest edition of Mortal Kombat that will blow your socks off if you’re an old ass gamer like myself.

By saying old, that means anyone over the age of 30 since we’re the dinosaurs in this microcosm that we call ‘gamers’…but every single one of us remembers the heyday of Mortal Kombat II and the awesomeness that was redesigned costumes that made the original ones look like turds. Netherrealm Studios has announced the first batch of DLC titled the “Klassic DLC pack” that will contain older outfits for our ninjas and our ninjettes. This means that you’ll get the classic diamond stitched outfits for Reptile, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Ermac and the busting-out-at-the-seams costumes for Jade, Mileena, and Kitana.

Perhaps the most interesting bit is the inclusion of three of the older fatalities that somehow didn’t make it into the retail release even though they should always be an option for these characters. You’ll get Reptile’s head ripping off and munching fatality from MKII, Sub-Zero’s classic head and spine pull, and Scorpion’s flambe ala combatant. Both Scorpion and Sub-Zero’s fatalities go all the way back to the classic Mortal Kombat and are very much welcomed back.

The DLC will be available on June 7 for the low low price of $4.99 or 400 Space Bucks (MSP). There is still one other set on the way that will add two new ‘kombatants’ but you’ll hear more about that in the future.
