Morning Cup o’ Music

Day two of my favorite gaming music related bands. Today we explore the NESkimos.

Much like The Minibosses I posted yesterday, The NESkimos were a band who did modern takes on classic gaming tunes while retaining the integrity of the original intact. I say “were a band” because the band has seemingly fallen off the face of the planet since 2008. That doesn’t stop their music from being some of the most highly downloaded tracks on the interbutts.

Today’s song, “Norfair Tenement Blues” is a bit of a departure from the group who normally just kept to the game music and didn’t add anything different to the composition. This song actually is ‘inspired’ by the music from the Norfair section of the classic NES game Metroid. If you listen close you can hear the musical clues that they borrowed for this song. If you find that this isn’t what you’re looking for, then check out the links I’ve provided below to hear a few other awesome renditions of classic NES gaming music.
