Morning Cup o’ Music

Tuesday of my trip into the 90s snags you one of the most prolific songs of my generation. I hope you like Sonic Youth.

The harmonic dissonance that Sonic Youth was responsible for during the 90s was a major defining moment for me because it showed me that your instrument doesn’t necessarily need to be in tune in order for it to make beautiful music. Then there’s the fact that Thurston Moore’s voice is so damn haunting that makes this one of the “I feel like crying when I hear it” types of songs.

The song for today is “The Diamond Sea” off of their Washing Machine album that came out in 1995. Go hunt this album down to hear the entire 19 minute version of this song as I could only find a short 8 minute version on the ‘tubes.
