Metalocalypse/Dethklok #1: It’s Brutal

When I found out this was coming out this week via Dark Horse Comics, I knew that I would be in for a treat. The art is very close to the show and it reads just like an episode you’d see on TV. The show must have been working closely on the comics because of that, I’d love to see this issue in animated form, though it isn’t needed.

It’s written by Brendon Small, Jeremy Barlow and Jon Schnepp. Pencils by Lucas Marangon and is colored by Eduardo Francisco, so you are definitely in for a treat.

The band is falling on hard times against, well, they aren’t overflowing with money anymore and have to do a new product line to recover funds. What is more brutal than frozen food? Loki of course want to branch out into Snow Cones too, but his idea is quickly rejected. This first issue was great, I grinned when Rockzo made a short appearance while using a computer at the public library, buying ca ca Oxycontin from ca ca Canada with a stolen ca ca credit card. Seriously, how can you not love that clown.

If you are a fan of the show, you have to buy this, it’s like getting a little mini episode that is done in a great way that doesn’t make you miss the full animated one. One last thing, remember kids as you’ll learn from this first issue, it’s best to keep your frozen food….frozen, before eating it.

Dethklok fans, definately something you want to be keeping in your hold! Everyone else, try this issue and if you like it, watch some of the show on Adult Swim.

Score: $3.99/$3.99
