Jerry Lewis to Muscular Dystrophy Assn: I’m Old. Time to die.

After 45 years of hosting the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon, Jerry Lewis has decided that enough is enough.

The 85 year old comedian and French icon is stepping down as host, the telethon will completely revamp it’s appearence. No more 21 hour broadcasts. Instead, a much tighter 6 hours. Of that six, it will be approximately half pre-recorded content.

Essentially, after 45 years, the MDA has realized that no one actually watches the marathon (except for maybe the French) and has been loosing significant amounts of donations for the last 2 years (7% in 2009, 9% in 2010).

The marathon originally started in 1952, and in 45 year run has managed to raise over 2 Billion dollars for Muscular Dystrophy research and treatment. I can’t fault them for the good that they have done, but have you ever watched the show?

SO BORING. I welcome a revamp.
