James Cameron Set To Profit Over Naval Disaster Again, THIS TIME IN 3D
He’s not making Titanic 2, where Jack returns in the form of a blue cat, but re-releasing Titantic in 3D. The former highest grossing film of all time is set to return to cinemas just in time for to cash in on the 100th anniversary of the sinking of RMS Titanic. Titanic will be re-released on April 6th 2012, the same day 100 years earlier that the ship set off on her final voyage. The film itself is being digitally remastered in 4K and obviously, being converted into 3D.
I don’t know about you, but I always thought Titanic was overrated. The love story is average at best and the Titanic is more of a backdrop than the actual focus of the film. Yes there’s that one scene with Kate Winslet being painted, but it doesn’t save the film. This particular disaster in human history is best kept to documentaries than films. The 3D rerelease most likely exists just to keep Cameron’s profits rolling over while he prepares to break his own grossing record a third time with Avatar 2. Not that he needs more money for his already large mountain of green, but hey, if opportunity knocks…
