Improv Comedy Returns to Television
Were you sad when the show Whose Line is it Anyway got cancelled? Wipe those tears away!
Nearly the entire cast of the American version of Whose Line is it Anyway? have returned for Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza, and they’ve some additional improvisational talent with them. The new cast consists of Drew Carey, Ryan Stiles, Colin Mochrie, Kathy Kinney, Jonathan Mangum, Jeff Davis, Chip Esten, Greg Proops, Brad Sherwood, and Heather Anne Campbell. All your favorite games have returned, though some have changed names (probably for legal reasons).
As an improvisation comedian myself, I’m ecstatic to see that the show has ditched the tight “the points don’t matter” mantra of the previous show. This new format allows the improvisers to do actual scenes this time, and not just competition games. New additions include Freeze Tag, Fairy Tale, and my own personal nightmare: Mousetraps, where you must complete a scene barefoot and blindfolded while the stage is covered with mousetraps.
Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza airs on weekdays at 8pm EST on GSN.
