If Futurama Characters Existed in Meatspace

There’s something disturbing about seeing real life representations of characters that we take for granted in animated form and it seems that it’s Futurama’s turn.

Who hasn’t seen the images of Homer Simpson or Mario the Plumber from the Super Mario Bros. series done up in realistic form? Instead of giving us simply flesh wrapped animated characters, the fans of Futurama like to take it a step further and make works of art like the one above. The first image comes courtesy of Russian artist Darey Dawn, and makes the sex appeal of Leela disappear completely.

Next up is my favorite of the three that we’re sharing with you and is of the robot devil himself as he plays on his golden fiddle. I was so convinced that the image was an actual model that I was a few seconds away from seeing if there was any way to purchase one of my own.

Finally, we have the professor Hubert J. Farnsworth done in a magnificent 3D rendering by Carlos Lopez which is a great image, but not quite as awesome as the other two pictures.

I love seeing pictures like this, but at the same time it makes me feel horribly depressed as I doubt that I will ever have the artistic talent that could even come close to touching on how great these are. I hope one day, that WPR will have it’s own fanbase that will draw fan art like these images, but until then, I’m not going to hold my breath.
