There was a lot going on at HP’s press conference today, including a ton of new tablets and phones. But noticibly abscent was the Palm brand.

Palm has been an innovator in the portable mobile computing realm for close to two decades. Starting out in ’92 and most recently making a surging comeback with WebOS. I loved my WebOS phone (I had an original Palm Pre) and while it may have lagged behind in recent years, WebOS still shows a lot of promise.

HP is keeping WebOS, with announcements of both Pre 3 and tablet computers using the software, it is a little bit interesting that they are no longer using the Palm brand.
