Hellboy: “The Storm #1” It’s Walking Dead with Armor, What’s Not to Love?

Okay let’s the disclaimer out of the way first. I’ve been reading comics for more than a few years now, but for some reason I’ve never gotten around to picking up Hellboy. It’s not because I didn’t like the concept or the idea of the story, I just never really found the time. So, when I got the chance to review the first issue of a new story arc I jumped at it, and I have to say, I’m glad I did.

I don’t know about you guys, but the reason I love comics is because you see things in comic books that will not work anywhere else. In this issue called “The Storm.”
We’re given a fair amount of background as to what our big red friend has been up to since the last time we saw him. I won’t go into it here because I don’t want to take the fun out of the book, but let’s just say even a superhero likes a good alcohol induced buzz now and then. To steal a great line from this issue, if you’d been through all the stuff that he’s been through you might want a drink as well.

Not to give too much away but an army of unlikely soldiers is coming together and only Hellboy knows why. With this being the first issue of a brand-new run, there’s plenty of background here, and it’s a great way for someone new to the series to get started. I definitely want to see where the story goes.
