That’s right kiddies, everyone’s favorite computer generated jpop idol is coming to the United States. Anime Expo’s first Virtual Guest of Honor, Miku will be performing at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on July 2nd. Don’t know what the heck I’m talking about? Hit the jump for more info on the Vocaloid star.
Hatusne Miku is a product of Crypton Future Media’s Vocaloid, a computer program that synthesizes both vocal pitch and speech. Miku is Vocaloid’s flagship synthesizer, with over 100,000 songs created for her by fans and professional artists alike. Last year, Sega teamed up with Crypton to bring 39′s Giving Day, a concert featuring a holographic Miku singing her biggest hits while backed up by a stage band. The concert in July will be based on this performance, which you can check out below.
I wasn’t planning on going to Anime Expo this year, but this has significantly made me rethink my July plans. I’ve been a big fan of Vocaloid since 2007, and I may just end up in LA this summer. Check out these videos of 39 Giving Day if you need more convincing.
