Google Announces Culprit in Gmail Debacle
Since I was one of the lucky 0.02% that experienced issues with my Google account being disabled and have had ZERO access to my Gmail and other various Google programs for the past 2 days, I’ve been on the lookout for any and everything that could let me know what the hell is going on. Lucky for me I found something.
It turns out that the problems started the other night when Google attempted to implement an update to their storage software which started users accounts to go down for the count. They immediately stopped the update as soon as they knew that it was causing issues.
What they didn’t know is that it would end up corrupting their data in the storage locations to the point where it was unusable. So unusable that the have had to resort to bringing back the lost data for the customers from the physical backup tapes that they keep offline just in case something like this were to happen.
I”m still waiting for my account to come up and will probably be waiting a while thanks to my unfortunate address beginning with X. I’m just glad to now know what is going on and that my data will be returned intact.
