Ginger Beard Films Announces The Drama Club
WPR friend Joe McClean has shared with us news that he just wrapped principal photography on a new feature film he wrote and directed called The Drama Club. He shared with me a few minutes of unfinished film and I have to tell you I really liked what I saw and I can’t wait to see how this turns out. Check out the full press release below
Ginger Beard Films wrapped principal photography on September 27th in Piedra, California of The Drama Club, produced by Mike Kopera (The Cabining) and Joe McClean (Life Tracker), who also helmed as director.
The Drama Club documents six high school Drama Club friends, reuniting for the first time in twenty years at their former drama teacher’s lake house. Their intentions are to rally together in support of one of the friends who needs it the most, yet close quarters become a bit too close.
The character-driven drama explores the dynamics of a group of friends, all based on characteristics of people director McClean knew growing up. “I wanted to create a story about a group of friends, whose history goes back nearly their entire lives, but who somehow still know very little about each other,” states McClean. “They think they have all ‘grown up,’ but come to find that the grudges and lusts of their teenage years are festering just beneath the surface.”
Rounding out McClean’s team are producer Mike Kopera (The Cabining) and cinematographer Grzegorz Gill (Ditching Party). The Drama Club is being produced by Ginger Beard Films.
