Fox Announces Renewals
The network has announced three show renewals for the next season, Empire, Gotham, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
In the wake of its highly successful debut and subsequent episode, Empire, the drama about a family’s music dynasty has been renewed for a second season. Fox is calling it their number one new series of the season as it’s the only new drama to grow in audience from week one to the second.
Gotham did something that the network hadn’t been able to do in nearly fourteen years by landing them in the top position of highest-rated fall drama, even eclipsing The Blacklist. This is of course due to their 6.0 share of the coveted adults 18-49 demographic, which went even higher in the live plus seven by a near whole number to 6.9.
Finally one of my favorite comedies on TV, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been greenlit for a third season. Seriously this is one of the funniest shows you’ll catch and is made even better by the exclusion of a laugh track or “live studio audience”. I really enjoy the dynamic that Andy Samberg, Terry Crews, Chelsea Peretti, and Andre Braugher share.
I’m sure this is just the tip of the iceberg as to what Fox is planning but I’m glad to hear that Fox is finally getting back into making decent shows.
