Dual Wielding in Modern Warfare 2
Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling showed off a video recently of their world-ending FPS coming out this year, Modern Warfare 2 last week at a GameCrazy show that showed off a unique perk…that showed the player character dual-wielding Desert Eagles.
I won’t get into semantics about how dumb it is for anyone to want to dual-wield any weapon at any time in real life…especially pistols that shoot .50 cal ammunition. But this is a video game, not bound to the rules of the real world. Geeks want double weapons, but it’ll come at a cost.
The ability is referred to Akimbo and will be completely balanced with the rest of the other pieces that make up the game. He explains:
“It’s limited to sidearms, harder to aim than standard and you can’t go ADS (aim down sights) since you have a weapon in each hand, among other balancing techniques, so don’t freak out before you see it in action,”
So, while you may think you look cool as hell holding your dual DEagles, I’ll still sneak up on you with my automatic shotgun and lay you out. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how they implement it.
