Disgaea 4 Announced, Dood!
It’s official, the next installment of the tactical-RPG series Disgaea is well under way. Disgaea 4 boasts HD graphics that will better match the original artwork of Takehito Harada, and will take place yet again in the Netherworld. While the series has tackled birthright, revenge, and the education system, Disgaea 4 will mark the series’ first trip into the world of politics and building a political cabinet. Normally, this doesn’t sound like a fun atmosphere, but keep in mind this was announced by a man in a Prinny (a cute demon penguin with bat wings) suit. The man in the suit was Souhei Niikawa, president of Nippon Ichi, who promised that this new title will be “stupidity to the max” (a welcoming sentiment to fans of the series).
Also included in this new iteration is a long-requested network multiplayer mode. While details are scarce at this time, what we do know is that players with be able to invade each other’s worlds.
Importers will be able to snag a copy when it is released in Japan on February 24th. NIS America has confirmed an English translated version will hit the United States in Fall of 2011. The announcement trailer (in Japanese) is provided below.
