DefJam Rapstar – 17/40 Tracks Listed
I know that the demographic of this website tends to lean more towards the indie music and prog rock crowd, but when I was growing up…I listened to a literal shitload of rap and hip-hop. I’m talking about the classics here, you know, the ones from the 80s into the early 90s. Not the top 40 crap we hear these days.
This does have something to do with the game coming from Konami and 4mm Games, I promise.
The rap/hip-hop MC simulator has been attempted in the past, but I can honestly say that most of those products pale in comparison when compared to DefJam Rapstar…if for nothing else than the list of tracks that have been confirmed for the game when it releases this fall (October to be exact).
The company itself have said that the game will have 40 tracks to ‘sing-along’ to…and we’re lucky enough to know what nearly half of them will be, and so far, I’m impressed as hell with some of the tracks. I’ve bolded the ones I’d love to do.
While the tracks listed are pretty awesome, I just can’t see myself plopping down cash on this game when I’ve got most of them on the iPod and can just listen and sing along in the car like Michael Bolton in Office Space.
There’ll need to be more than just rapping involved with this game in order to get me interested. But I do at least approve of the songs so far. I just hope that they give this game a bit of a higher than an E for everyone because the references to guns, bitches, bling, and spliffs need to remain intact.
We’ll just put this one on the backburner until something more meaty comes from either Konami or 4mm Games.
