You knew this post was coming.

Though the first movie in this two parter, An Unexpected Journey, is still more than a year away, they certainly haven’t been shy at giving us a sneak peek at what they’re doing. Today, I bring you promotional images of the final three dwarves that recruit burglar Baggins on their great adventure: Balin (Ken Scott), Dwalin (Graham McTavish), and the fearless leader of the group Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage).

Both films are being filmed back to back, with An Unexpected Journey coming December 14, 2012 and There and Back Again coming December 13, 2013. While The Hobbit is a shorter story than any of the three parts that make up The Lord of the Rings, the quick paced writing of this prequel is so jam packed with adventures that it certainly deserves two films.
