Classic Activision on GoG…NOW!
Perusing the GoG website this morning, I noticed that they’ve now started adding classic Activision PC games to their library. This is magical news to retro-tards like me, this just got really real…especially for the few games they’ve announced and what may come in the future. All I can say right now is…HELL YEAH Gabriel Knight!
Announced today on their website:
In a landmark deal for the DRM-free digital distribution movement, Activision Publishing Inc. is bringing a wide range of classic games to GOG.com!
It’s now official, we’re bringing you the biggest announcement in GOG.com’s history – Activision with it’s wealth of PC gaming gems has joined our DRM-free family. With the announcement we’re revealing first two classics which should be instantly recognizable to any fan of good, old games: Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura and Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers. Other games from the Activision catalogue will be unveiled gradually in the coming weeks, so expect more from this publisher during Month of Activision on GOG.com!
Now, I know it may shame me as a Retro-tard, but I’ve never heard of the Arcanum game, but I am intimate with Gabriel Knight because of how prolific it was during my PC gaming years. Seriously, that was one of the LAST games that I can fondly remember playing on PC…now I wonder if they’ll re-release the Heavy Gear games or even better all of the Mechwarrior 2 games + expansions. Oh man, I need to go change my pants.
