Area 10
You should be aware, if you were wondering like me, that the title to this book has nothing to do with Area 51 and aliens. Instead, this Vertigo Crime novel’s title, Area 10, refers to an area of the brain often the target for trepanning. On a sliding scale of unreality, this crime story is […]
Turf #2
When Image sent me this Turf #2, I thought: Cool! Prohibition mob stuff with good art (Tommy Lee Edwards, my favorite part of Marvel 1985, does all the work, including the colors). As it was the second issue, I went to my local comic book dealer and picked up #1.II figured I had to know […]
Hellblazer: Pandemonium
This is a really, really late review. Part of the problem is that this hardback is $24.99. The other is the premise of the story: Everyone’s favorite aging bad-boy magician from England heads to war-torn Iraq to deal with… Yeah, that is when I got turned off too. A topical John Constatine story in Iraq? […]
Incorruptible #7
I was dubious about this comic at first: Was it merely a pretender riding the coattails of the successful Irredeemable? It was, after all, advertised as the reverse story of Irredeemable: The villain is now the hero. However, seven issues in, I find myself liking Incorruptible more than Irredeemable for another area where they are […]
Velocity #1
I’ll be honest: I did not know that Velocity was not a new character. Knowing that this book is a winner of Image’s Pilot Season made me think she was new. However, she was part of Cyberforce–that team’s answer to the Flash. Opening up this book, I was stunned at the visuals. That is reason […]
Invincible #73
The Viltrumite War continues! (Yes, it is required that every reviewer of this books says that.) You might have thought that after the last issue this one would also show some crazy battle as the war escalates. I know I did. I was wrong (again!), pleasantly surprised though. This is a plot-driven issue of Invincible, […]
New Comics Wednesday: Predators #3
The worst part of this comic? Having to look at Adrien Brody’s face every other panel in the second story of Dark Horse Comics’ Predators #3. Yes, it is a blatant tie-in for the upcoming movie (July 9th, if you haven’t already penned it in on your calendar), but as Dark Horse has been doing […]
Got iComics?
A little bird told me that you could now get Magnus, Robot Fighter and Doctor Solar, Man of the Atom on your iPhone for free from Dark Horse Comics.
Greg Sez #2 – Comics You Should Be Reading This Week
The Black Cat Comics owner tells you what’s hot.
New Comics Wednesday: Hellboy: The Crooked Man and Others
Yes, it actually came out last week. However I am mentioning it now so that you will not forget to buy Hellboy: The Crooked Man and Others when you go to the comic book store today. The bulk of this book is a reprint of the three issue mini-series, The Crooked Man, written by Hellboy-creator […]
The Abominable Charles Christopher
I tend to gush when I post. I find that if I care about something enough to tell others, I’m only able to wax long about it’s many virtues. The Abominable Charles Christopher deserves no different, but I will force myself to be brief.
“So, are you reading Chew?”
I sauntered into the comic book story this past week. My dealer had already placed my habit (a stack of six or seven comic books) on the counter. After the usual pleasantries, I asked him: “So, are you reading Chew?” “Yeah, of course. Aren’t you?”
Move along, nothing to see here…
Yes, Mr. Garth Ennis is up to it again. Or is it his partner in crime, Derick Robertson? In the end, it doesn’t really matter, does it? Someone, probably on a conservative, faux-news cable network, is going to get a hold of this and run with it.
