Sweets #1

Sweets #1

Sometimes word of mouth can really piss me off.  Word of mouth told me I should look out for Sweets.  Word of mouth had me read the ten page preview Image sent me.  Word of mouth got to me too late to pick up Sweets #1 before my comic book store ran out. Thanks word […]

Hellcity: The Whole Damn Thing

Hellcity: The Whole Damn Thing

Start saving those pennies!  Look under the cushions for quarters.  Image is publishing a full book I think everyone should get:  Hellcity:  The Whole Damn Thing.

Pug

Pug

You will notice two things when you first see Pug:  1) It is about boxing and 2) It is not the normal size for a comic book. Pug is 104 page B&W comic book about the life of a failed boxer in the 1950s who turns to shady dealings outside of the ring to survive.

Hellboy: The Storm #2 (of 3)

Hellboy: The Storm #2 (of 3)

I-so-want-to-share-the-news-with-you-but-I-hate-spoilers! Actually, I am not even certain about a certain something in particular that I caught in Hellboy: The Storm #2, and I really want to talk about it with someone!  However, I won’t do it here.

Baltimore: The Plague Ships #1 (of 5)

Baltimore: The Plague Ships #1 (of 5)

In Baltimore:  The Plague Ships, Dark Horse Comics would like you to introduce you to Lord Henry Baltimore.  World War I has just ended, but for Lord Baltimore, the war continues as he hunts vampires. Baltimore was originally conceived by Mike Mignola (Hellboy) and fleshed out with the help of writer Christopher Golden (too numerous […]

Toy Collecting 101

Toy Collecting 101

The problem with Comicon. Today my Comicon Captain America Exclusive showed up from hasbrotoyshop.com. It is an incredibly cool toy if you are an “Ultimates” fan. Then my friend told me he had just ordered his off of eBay and only paid $36, for his. I asked him why he had paid so much, and […]

Irredeemable #16

Irredeemable #16

After last issue’s big battle, Irredeemable #16 takes quite a turn.  This issue of Irredeemable is a series of vignettes.  Mostly quiet moments, though a couple are violent,  in the lives of the characters. This is my favorite issue of Irredeemable lately.

itemforty’s Stuff to Avoid: Lady Robitika #1

itemforty’s Stuff to Avoid: Lady Robitika #1

Do you know the singing telegram girl from Clue? The one that was shot as quickly as she was introduced? Sure you do! She was cute, she was peppy, and her death was abrupt and hilarious. Well, you probably didn’t know that she is way more punk than you ever will be. Go ahead and […]

Abe Sapien: The Abyssal Plain #2

Abe Sapien: The Abyssal Plain #2

Abe Sapien:  The Abyssal Plain #2 did not end like I expected it would; not in the least. That is among the highest praise I can give, I believe.

7 Psychos #3

7 Psychos #3

You would be forgiven if, like me, you thought that Seven Psychopaths was a rip-off of last summer’s Inglorious Basterds.  In this three-issue mini-series, seven psychopaths are chosen during the Battle of Britain to parachute into Nazi Germany to assassinate Hitler. However, it turns out this comic book predates that movie by two years:  It […]

Bullet Proof Coffin #2

Bullet Proof Coffin #2

I didn’t want to like this comic.  The cover does not scream interesting to me.  The strange figures on the cover of the first and second issues of The Bulletproof Coffin with the plain background screamed cheap ’80s indie comic. The inside kept screaming ’80s indie comic, and that might be why I like it.

Codebreakers #4

Codebreakers #4

Codebreakers #4 is the final issue in this miniseries by BOOM!.  As you may guess from the title, the story revolves around analysts for the CIA.  They are not all number crunchers though, and that helps make this geeks as heroes titles more interesting.

Pale Horse #2

Pale Horse #2

BOOM! has done it to me again.  I found out that Pale Horse #2 came out last week with no advance warning.  I still do not know if this is a mini-series or an ongoing title… However, I am along for the ride.  (Get it?  Western title?  Horses?  Ride?)
