This weekend of all the new films to open only Nightcrawler managed to open in the top ten, taking the second place spot, having just been edged out by Ouija.  Fury, Gone Girl, The Book of Life held on to their third, fourth and fifth places positions.  John Wick dropped from second to sixth demonstrating it’s limited appeal.  With October at an end we are now entering the first November weekend, and the first weekend with large, highly anticipated film openings, such as Interstellar and Big Hero 6.

Opening this week in theatres:

Big Hero 6

An action comedy adventure about brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. With the help of his closest companion-a robot named Baymax-Hiro joins forces with a reluctant team of first-time crime fighters on a mission to save their city.

The Better Angels

At an isolated log cabin in the harsh wilderness of Indiana circa 1817, the rhythms of love, tragedy, and the daily hardships of life on the developing frontier shaped one of our nation’s greatest heroes: Abraham Lincoln. Using glorious black and white cinematography to conjure an America where the land was raw, this film sheds new light on the formative years of the future president and the two women who molded him into one of the most revered men in American history. Based on interviews with Lincoln’s family members, this film is a beautiful, insightful, and brilliantly composed feature.

Interstellar

With our time on Earth coming to an end, a team of explorers undertakes the most important mission in human history; traveling beyond this galaxy to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars.

The Theory of Everything

This is the extraordinary story of one of the world’s greatest living minds, the renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, who falls deeply in love with fellow Cambridge student Jane Wilde. Once a healthy, active young man, Hawking received an earth-shattering diagnosis at 21 years of age. With Jane fighting tirelessly by his side, Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very thing he now has precious little of – time. Together, they defy impossible odds, breaking new ground in medicine and science, and achieving more than they could ever have dreamed
