Box Office Report December 1st

In this week’s Box Office Report Mockingjay retains its number one spot over a holiday weekend to arrive at an impressive two week domestic box office total of $225.5 million.  This franchise blockbuster is followed up by a scrappy franchise spinoff the Penguins of Madagascar which has pulled in $35.5 million over the long weekend.  Big Hero 6 is holding now at third, followed closely by Interstellar.  Horrible Bosses 2 opened in 5th with $22.7 million but I wouldn’t expect it to stick around, unless everyone who sees it forgets they saw it and they return for more punishment.  Dumb and Dumber To has nearly fallen off the carts where it belongs while The Theory of Everything is climbing thanks to expanding to additional theatres.  This next weekend is due to be extremely quiet so I wouldn’t expect much movement in the carts.
