Bill Murray will become the President (in a film about FDR)
One day though…one day.According to Vulture, Murray is taking on the role of the 32nd President of the United States Franklin D.Roosevelt in a film adaptation of a 2009 radio play called Hyde Park On The Hudson.
The radio play was based on the story of the President and his supposed love affair with his cousin Margaret Stuckley, which took place on the weekend in 1939 when King George VI and his wife visited New York. (The first British Monarch to visit North America)
The Film4 production starts shooting in July and will be directed by Roger Michell, who has previously directed Morning Glory, Changing Lanes and Notting Hill. On script duties is Richard Nelson, who wrote the original radio play. Finally, Kevin Loader (In The Loop, Nowhere Boy) is producing.
Sounds a bit boring if I’m being honest, but then I’m not one for stories that involve the British Monarchy (No, I don’t want to watch The King’s Speech). Still, it might be worth a look if Murray can bring his trademark awesomeness to it. And who doesn’t want to see him as the President of the United States.
