Beavis and Butthead return to MTV

Announced by Justin Bieber on Twitter as well as the entire “Skins” cast at the upfronts in New York, Beavis and Butthead will be making their way back to TV.

This cult classic of a show ran from 1993 to 1997 and spawned a feature film, “Do America”. Mike Judge had since created “King of the Hill” as well as “Office Space” and had always believed the characters to come back at some point.

This show was on during a time in my life when I learned that “making fun of videos or movies is really funny” phase of my life. Without Beavis and Butthead I’m not sure if I could really appreciate the complex comedy that is now Rifftrax or Mystery Science Theater. I personally, really enjoyed the music video segments more than the actual stories themselves, which even at the time, MTV was slowly, decreasing the amount of music shown. Beavis and Butthead also showed videos from bands that may not have received as much airtime as they may have otherwise had.

I really hope this is a sign for things to come from MTV. Their animated series were some of my all time favorites (I’m looking at you Liquid Television and Daria.)

So, what do you guys think of this announcement?
