Apple…I’m Done, Seriously I Quit.
I know that I’ve talked about this before and have stated my reluctance in leaving the comforting arms of my iPhone, which has been my platform since inception…circa 2008. But I’ve finally come to a decision about the future of my mobile phone needs and I’ll be posting the conversion process in painstakingly graphic detail, along with cuss words and the learning processes needed to jump the iOS ship and come to Android.
As to why you should care. Technically I am not even a blip on the radar when it comes to tech coverage, but I do bring a sense of humor and wonder when it comes to the pocket mini computers we take with us through every second of our lives.
There are many reasons as to why I’m making the jump:
- iPhone 5 barely upgrades from iPhone 4S
- Customization is nerfed on iPhones
- Natively using Google apps on an OS created by Google
- iTunes match = $25 a year for 20,000 songs, Google Music = $0 for 20,000 songs
- No iPhones come equipped with NFC
- Easily expandable memory via SD card
That’s certainly not all of the reasons, but you get the gist of why a one time rabid Apple fanboy might make the jump to the enemy’s hardware and software.
You might ask which piece of tech I’m looking at picking up and after many many hours of pondering about this exact question, I’ve decided. I’m going with the Samsung Galaxy Note II. Sure, it’s a beast of a phone and pretty large to boot, but I think in the long run, I’ll get more usage out of it than I would my iPhone and iPad combined. I don’t like segmenting the work of what should be one piece of hardware to two different and costly items. I’ll be writing as I go along and this will probably be quite the WPR saga, so stay tuned and watch this space for more info…if you dare.
