It turns out the rumors are true: Aniplex is making a Persona 4 anime. Announced yesterday, this looks to be directly based off the game, as many of the original staff from the game are credited with this adaptation.

Though details are sparse, the website for the anime says that the original Japanese cast members will be voicing their respective characters. Meguro Shoji, the composer of Persona 4‘s amazing soundtrack, will be the main composer. Kishi Seiji will be the director. His directing credits include Angel Beats and Tentai Senshi Sunred.

To be honest, I’m not riding this hypetrain quite yet. Don’t get me wrong, I love Persona 4, it’s one of my favorite RPGs. Bringing back the original cast is a great idea, as well as the composer. However, Aniplex is very hit and miss. They’ve made some good anime, but they’ve also made some very bad anime. In the end, we will just have to wait and see… but I’m tentatively looking forward to it.
