Anime Consortium Japan Announces Premium Rental Streaming for Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin
Anime Consortium Japan Inc. has announced that “Blue-Eyed Casval,” the first episode of the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin OVA series, will be available for paid rental streaming on their DAISUKI platform starting on February 28, 2015 (JST). The stream will be available with either Japanese audio or an English dub, and subtitles include English, French, Korean, Traditional Chinese (Taiwan), Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong), and Simplified Chinese. Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin will be available worldwide except in Japan and China.
Also, beginning on February 4, 2015, the DAISUKI website is taking pre-orders for the physical release of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin Volume 1 Collector’s Edition. This limited special edition Blu-ray import release comes with several bonus features: a 12-page booklet, staff and cast audio commentary, a 32-page manual, and more. The audio for the release includes both Japanese and English, as well as subtitles in the following languages: Japanese, English, French, Korean, Traditional Chinese (Taiwan), Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong), and Simplified Chinese. Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin Volume 1 Collector’s Edition will be released on April 24, 2015, and is being sold for $94.99 U.S.
The story of “Blue-Eyed Casval” is set in Universal Century 0068, Side 3 in the Autonomous Republic of Munzo. Zeon Zum Deikun tries to declare Munzo’s independence from the Earth Federation Government as he preaches about the evolutionary potential of humans who have advanced into outer space. When Deikun suddenly falls to his death in the middle of a speech, Jimba Ral spreads word of a House of Zabi conspiracy. However, Degwin Sodo Zabi seems to escalate the power and sphere of influence of the House of Zabi. Casval and Artesia, Deikun’s children, must face their destinies in this tumultuous era.
