A&E’s Bates Motel – How effing Dare you!
How is it that you think that you can take the pinnacle of early slasher films, some argue the first slasher film (they’re incorrect, but still) and turn it into a present-day mellow drama? It really seems like you’re desperately trying to get into the horror game like AMC, and FX have already successfully done, but somebody told you that horror fans really love bastardized prequels/reboots. I have to say I liked this show better when it was called Psycho IV: The Beginning directed by Mick Garris! Seriously just watch that movie, watch all four of the original movies. They’re mountains better than this insult of a show. The scenes with Norman hanging out with his peers are unrealistic, and tacky. The homages to John Carpenter (Mr. Carpenter) and George A. Romero (Officer Romero) are actually just insults to them and the genre.
Now let me point out at least on thing in the shows favor, it’s somewhat entertaining. It’s not altogether boring, and it doesn’t hurt to watch if you are not a fan of the original series. I’ll say this A&E! you’re on notice! Fix this show now, before it’s too late!
Here’s the perpetrator’s of this mess.
- Freddie Highmore as Norman Bates
- Vera Farmiga as Norma Louise Bates
- Max Thieriot as Dylan Massett
