Adventure Time: Beautopia – Mini Review

Susan Strong asks Finn and Jake to help fight off the Glub Glubs and regain her people’s home in Beautopia. Yes, it’s as good as it sounds!

I always liked Susan Strong from when she was introduced, so, when Jake and Finn are discussing coffee and she bursts through a wall to greet them. She says that she needs Finn’s help because of his “Hero Heart.” She also adds that she needs Finn’s magic, the “Red Flower,” or fire. She wants to regain her Hyoomen tribe’s village deep in the caves where they live, Jake thinks she’s just crazy, and decides to come along when he can’t persuade Finn, but only as a distraction.

Of course the Glub Glubs look like harmless pool toys as they float on by when the group is making their way to Beautopia, and OF COURSE, they’re much more than that after Jake uses a ‘Pick axe hand’ to try and deflate one of them. Speaking of Jake, he had some pretty funny uses of his morphing into whatever the hell he wants this episode. Dolphin, Clam, Fish. OK, maybe it was just sea animals. It’s hard not to like his little song on the boat too.

Jake: I’m on a boat with a couple of wackos.

Shakin’ my hips and dippin’ my fat toe

In the water! Dippin’ in the water!

This party’s gettin’ hotter! It’s so hot it’s stupid.

We also did get to see Finns current hair, after Susan stuffed him into the water thinking he had gills like her. If you remember correctly, his hair was cut off and given to the ugly witch to keep her happy and feeling “beautiful” a while back. Glad they still have a sense of continuity.

I am wondering what the whole Finn whispering “Susan…” was about on the end, but you know, when you got a boat of soft pretzels, you gotta go.
