Abe Sapien: The Abyssal Plain #2

Abe Sapien:  The Abyssal Plain #2 did not end like I expected it would; not in the least.

That is among the highest praise I can give, I believe.

I like even everything better in the second issue of Abe Sapien:  The Abyssal Plain.  I like Peter Snejbjerg’s art better (his interpretation of a character in a surprising cameo is spot on).  Mike Mignola and John Arcudi’s story was well thought out, and their ending was totally not what I thought it would be.

Did I mention that that was high praise?

My biggest complaint:  What is the title about?  OK, I got this from thefreedictionary.com: “Abyssal. 3. Of or relating to the region of the ocean bottom between the bathyal and hadal zones, from depths of approximately 3,000 to 6,000 meters (10,000 to 20,000 feet).”  Ah, got it.  Nothing to do with the abyss; aka, hell.

Here is my review for the first issue.

Was my curiosity from the first issue satisfied?  Definitely.  This is a great short story to tide us over until the next BPRD storyline starts next month.

Bottom Line:  $3.50/$3.50
