25 Days of Christmas (Carol): Day 7
Finally, after a week of searching I’ve found the earliest surviving movie adaptation of A Christmas Carol, titled Scrooge; or Marley’s Ghost, directed by R.W. Paul. This version is so elusive that the only known print is held by the British Film Institute, and it’s incomplete to boot. Though absolutely silent, this over 100 year old print manages to tell an impressive amount in its 3 and a half minute runtime. There’s not much to say about this adaptation, but I’m glad it hasn’t been completely lost in time.
