Some twenty-nine years ago the greatest of the campy horror movies had its first screening in Detroit Michigan. The cost of this movie was $375,000, and it due to budgetary problems it almost didn’t get finished. This movie was the theatrical debut of Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, and marked the beginning of a professional relationship that has lasted more than thirty years. This movie at one point was banned in several countries because it was considered too graphic. Yes, that’s right we are talking about one of my favorite movies Evil Dead.

Tuesday Evil Dead will be released on bluray for the first time ever. The bluray will include two new High Definition transfers in the original 1.33:1ratio, and a 1.85:1 widescreen ratio; it also sports a TrueHD 5.1 audio track. This excites me because my DVD doesn’t look that hot on a standard definition TV, and just awful on a HD TV, and of course it has been modified to the widescreen format.

Special features include
• A new audio commentary by Sam Raimi, Robert Tapert and Bruce Campbell.
It also contains a DVD n the special-features DVD:
• One By One We Will Take You: The Untold Saga of The Evil Dead
• The Evil Dead: Treasures from the Cutting Room Floor
• The Ladies Of The Evil Dead Meet Bruce Campbell
• Book of The Dead: The Other Pages
• Discovering The Evil Dead
• Unconventional
• At The Drive-In

While most of the features on the DVD have been previously released, they have gathered them all together from the various previous editions. Subjected retail price is $29.99, however amazon.com and walmart.com are selling it online for under $18.00.
